Pizza Nite is almost here!

Can't believe it but another week has gone by.  Just finished making the dough for the pizza tomorrow.
Got my order of blueberries in today!!  Going to sell some but also take some to do some muffins with them.  I am also getting some fresh veggies in later today.  Some celery, romaine lettuce, lemons, potatoes and mushrooms.  I think I also have some more green peppers coming.
Andrew will be making chili for Saturday afternoon.
Yesterday spent the day making chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, oatmeal chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies.  It smelt so good in here.  Nothing like the smell of fresh baking.
Reminder that Sunday we offer waffles from 8-11am.

Pizza Nite tonight

Dough is made and toppings to be prepared shortly.
Yesterday we received some fresh produce.  Some cabbage, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, garlic, lemons, green peppers and oranges.  We couldn't resist it but broke into our bread and took a couple of tomatoes to make a toasted tomato sandwiches.  We also had an orange.  They were really easy to peel and sweet.
Boys are all up and opening their fry and ice cream businesses.  Another hot day but we find those the best for no one wants to cook.
Hope to see you at pizza nite, tonight....

Beginning of a new Venture

To leave fishing was one of the hardest decisions we have ever made.  We were so passionate about it and believed in quality so strongly.
But we feel this new venture will be good for us and our community.  Why we decided a bakery/store is we went without a vehicle last summer and quickly found out how hard it was to get the necessary ingredients to make dinner at home for the family was.  I remember wanting to have a fresh salad but didn't have the money to hire someone to get me a head of lettuce.  But at the time we pushed this thought aside and continued trying to save the fishing business.
Then we announced our decision on June 18th to the end of our 10 year fishing business.  We quickly began the work to transform our fishing plant into a bakery with a small retail area.  Then the cooking and baking began.  Tried many different recipes and adjusted it where it was necessary to do so.  Now we have been open for about a week.  I hope to use this blog to update what we are baking or cooking.
Right now we have bread that was made yesterday afternoon.  I made ginger snaps yesterday and then today Andrew made chocolate chip cookies this morning.  Friday we are planning a pizza nite from 5-8pm and then a waffle breakfast on Sunday morning from 8-11am.
We have deli slices, eggs, frozen waffles, frozen perogies and tomorrow (Thursday) fresh garlic, tomatoes, lemons, cabbage, oranges and green peppers are coming in.  Working on stocking the shelves with dry and can goods.  Andrew is up early and opens at 7am daily.  He puts on some freshly ground coffee on and if you are up at that time, a cup of coffee is $2.
Our hours are 7 days a week and from 7am - 8pm.
